The Corstorphine Trust is delighted to announce the return of Donald MacKenzie who will be providing accompaniment to the 1928 Buster Keaton classic, Steamboat Bill, Jr.
The film follows Bill Canfield, Jr, the son of a Mississippi steamboat paddle owner, who reunites with his father after a lifetime apart. Their tumultuous relationship takes a turn for the worse when Bill Jr. falls in love with the daughter of his father’s enemy – a new steamboat owner who threatens to put Canfield out of business. When a hurricane suddenly sweeps into town, Willie is ironically presented with the opportunity to solve all of his problems —
as long as he can save his father, his young love, and himself.
Regarded as a masterpiece of its era and featuring one of the most famous stunts in all of cinematic history – the incredible house facade collapse scene – Steamboat Bill, Jr. presents Buster Keaton at his very finest.
Donald MacKenzie, from London’s Odeon Leicester Square, will be making a welcome return to perform an improvised score on The Corstorphine Astoria Centre’s Ingram Cinema Organ.
The event will open with another short comedy film to complete the programme.
